Xylaria polymorpha - <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xylaria_polymorpha" class="extiw" title="en:Xylaria polymorpha">Dead man's fingers</a> in the <a href="https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wisentgehege_Springe" class="extiw" title="de:Wisentgehege Springe">Wisentgehege Springe game park</a> near <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Springe" class="extiw" title="en:Springe">Springe</a>, <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanover_(district)" class="extiw" title="en:Hanover (district)">Hanover</a>, Germany. The "dead man's fingers" grows on the ground, the plant with the leaf grows in the background. I needed <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aperture" class="extiw" title="en:Aperture">aperture</a> <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F-number" class="extiw" title="en:F-number">40</a> to show all tiny details smaller than 1 mm in the different fingers, therefore I got no <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/bokeh" class="extiw" title="en:bokeh">bokeh</a> in the background and the leaf is visible. But the leaf shows the tiny size by the "dead man's fingers". Visible of the "dead man's fingers" is only the hand (or head) in a large enlargement. The hand has a size of nearly 2 x 2 cm. © Michael Gäbler - CC BY 3.0 - Wikimedia Commons
