Lipothrix lubbocki - A Lipothrix lubbocki springtail from Ebbor Gorge, Wookey, England.

Original description on Flickr:

I've been looking for this one for so long without any luck that I'd given up. So when I did find it, I thought it was just a weird A. fusca until I got the photos home and sent them to Frans, who set me right. So a new one for my list!

And truthfully, and ironically, the whole reason I was at Ebbor Gorge this morning was because of these chaps, as part of the gorge is ancient woodland which is the only place that you'll find them. I've been going to all the local ancient woodlands in the hope of finding them... So that was great. The photos aren't great though- I wasn't really trying so if the weather's OK tomorrow I'll go back and have a proper go, hopefully get some more decent photos. If you look in the first comment, the yellow one is possibly, I think, a juvenile as it was much smaller and lacks the pronounced blunt setae.

© Andy Murray - CC BY-SA 2.0 - Wikimedia Commons
