Phyllotopsis nidulans -
Phyllotopsis nidulans ((Pers.) Singer)

Location: Beaver County, Western Pennsylvania

Notes: Medium size clustered shelf mushroom. The upper surface is very hairy and orangish-tan. The margin is darker than the center and is rolled under. The tan gills converge to the center of a very broad attachment. The flesh is whitish and doesn’t bruise easily. There is no strong odor.
The lack of a strong odor and no bruisability caused some doubt about the identification. What do others think?

© Bob Zuberbuhler (Bob Z) - CC BY-SA 3.0 - Wikimedia Commons
